A meeting was held in the conference hall of M/s Meraj
International, SIET Complex, Tynampet, Chennai on Tuesday 22nd Feb.2005 at
7.00PM. The following members were present:
- Janab Ibnu Saud Sahab
- Janab Muniruddin Sherief Sahab,
- Janab S.M.Abdur Raheem Patel Sahab,
- Janab Syed Khalid Ahmed Sahab,
- Janab Captn. Zahid Hussain Sahab,
- Janab S Mushtaq Amed Sahab and
- Janab Mansoor Ahmed Sahab of Taawun Trust, New Delhi.
Janab Mansoor Ahmed Sahab proposed the name of Janab Ibnu
Saud Sahab to preside over the meeting and Abdur Raheem Patel seconded it.
Proceedings began with Qirat by Capt. Zahid Sahab. Janab Ibnu Saud Sahab welcomed the
members and he briefly described about the trip to the Tsunami affected areas from Chennai
to Velenkini in Nagapattinam he made on Saturday and Sunday(19th & 20th
Feb) along with the Relief Coordinator-Taawun Trust New Delhi Janab Mansoor Ahmed
Sahab, Relief Committee Chairman Janab Muniruddin Sherief Sahab and Capt. Zahid Hussain
Sahab. He said the main objective of todays meeting and the reason for the visit of
the Relief coordinator Taawun Trust New Delhi Janab Mansoor Sahab is the
rehabilitation of the Tsunami victims, especially Muslim victims and to identify the land
for the purpose. Jb. Ibnu Saud Sahab mentioned about visiting a plot of 1.35 acres of land
in Kottakuppamm which was available for Rs.10/= lakhs and said it is ideal for the Project
Rehabilitation. He said we can try and negotiate the price of the land
After much deliberation it was decided to buy that land and the Chairman requested
Janab Mansoor Ahmed Sahab to put it across to the concerned persons in Taawun Trust
to arrange the funds for buying that land at the earliest possible. Janab Mushtaq Sahab
(Architect ) said we can build 36 units of two houses each with a common wall, on that
land with a plot dimension of 30ft x 40ft each. Each dwelling will be of about 350 square
ft. and will have a hall, a small verandah (where a kitchen could be located) and common
bathroom & toilet with pucca walls and lite roofing. The approximate cost of each
house will be about One lakh Rupees each. He further explained that if a budget is given
we could plan accordingly and on mass scale construction, the cost may come down even
more.
Janab Mushtaq Ahmed Sahib (Architect) was assigned the task of preparing a detail Project
Report for constructing as many houses as possible in the said plot of 1.35 acres and
submit the same at the earliest so that it could be sent to Taawun Trust New Delhi
and All India Milli Council-New Delhi for approval. Janab Mushtaq Sahab readily accepted
and said it will be ready in one weeks time.
It was also decided to submit a copy of the Project Report to All India Milli Council
Karnataka Unit as their delegation during their visit to Tsunami affected areas on
16th January 2005 and also at the meeting next day with Janab Dr. Manzoor Alam
Sahib, had promised to contribute in the construction of about 100 temporary shelters, it
was decided to request them that as temporary shelters are not needed now, instead they
can take part in the construction of about 25 houses.
Janab Mansoor Sahab giving his impressions of his visit of the Tsunami affected areas, he
said on Friday 18th Feb after Juma prayers along with Janab Muniruddin Sherief
Sahab and Janab Ibnu Saud Sahab he visited areas in and around Chennai city such as
Ennore, Kasimedu, Trivettiyur in North Chennai and areas like Nachikuppam, Srinivasapuram,
Pattinapakkam, Domingkuppam etc in the Fore Shore Estate. Following two days (Saturday
& Sunday) along with Janab Muniruddin Sherief Sahab, Janab Ibnu Saud Sahab and Capt.
Zahid Sahab he visited Kalpakkam, Oyalikuppam, Devanapattinam, Sonakuppam, Singarathope,
Gouri, MGR Thitt. Swamiyarpettai, Sevapettai, Indranagar, Pherangipettai, Kottakuppam
Nagoor, Chilladi, Nagapattinam, Kallar, Vellankini and Trancobar. He also mentioned about
his meeting with the people at United Islamic Jamaat at Pherangipettai who have been doing
wonderful job in providing relief. He mentioned about his visit to ITI relief camp in
Nagapattinam where he met different groups like JIH, Tawheed Jamaat, TMMK and Ar Rahmaan
etc., who have put up temporary shelters and was very much impressed by their work.
He said sitting else where, away from these affected areas nobody can visualize the extent
of actual damage, he said it has to be seen to be believed. He suggested while allotting
the houses, priority may be given to the families who have lost their men folk in the
tragedy who were the only bread winners of their families. |
