Proceedings began with Qirat by Capt. Zahid Sahab. Janab Ibnu Saud Sahab welcomed the members and he briefly described about the trip to the Tsunami affected areas from Chennai to Velenkini in Nagapattinam he made on Saturday and Sunday(19th & 20th Feb) along with the Relief Coordinator-Ta’awun Trust New Delhi Janab Mansoor Ahmed Sahab, Relief Committee Chairman Janab Muniruddin Sherief Sahab and Capt. Zahid Hussain Sahab. He said the main objective of today’s meeting and the reason for the visit of the Relief coordinator Ta’awun Trust New Delhi Janab Mansoor Sahab is the rehabilitation of the Tsunami victims, especially Muslim victims and to identify the land for the purpose. Jb. Ibnu Saud Sahab mentioned about visiting a plot of 1.35 acres of land in Kottakuppamm which was available for Rs.10/= lakhs and said it is ideal for the Project Rehabilitation. He said we can try and negotiate the price of the land
After much deliberation it was decided to buy that land and the Chairman requested
Janab Mansoor Ahmed Sahab to put it across to the concerned persons in Ta’awun Trust to arrange the funds for buying that land at the earliest possible. Janab Mushtaq Sahab (Architect ) said we can build 36 units of two houses each with a common wall, on that land with a plot dimension of 30ft x 40ft each. Each dwelling will be of about 350 square ft. and will have a hall, a small verandah (where a kitchen could be located) and common bathroom & toilet with pucca walls and lite roofing. The approximate cost of each house will be about One lakh Rupees each. He further explained that if a budget is given we could plan accordingly and on mass scale construction, the cost may come down even more.
Janab Mushtaq Ahmed Sahib (Architect) was assigned the task of preparing a detail Project Report for constructing as many houses as possible in the said plot of 1.35 acres and submit the same at the earliest so that it could be sent to Ta’awun Trust New Delhi and All India Milli Council-New Delhi for approval. Janab Mushtaq Sahab readily accepted and said it will be ready in one week’s time.
It was also decided to submit a copy of the Project Report to All India Milli Council – Karnataka Unit as their delegation during their visit to Tsunami affected areas on 16th January 2005 and also at the meeting next day with Janab Dr. Manzoor Alam Sahib, had promised to contribute in the construction of about 100 temporary shelters, it was decided to request them that as temporary shelters are not needed now, instead they can take part in the construction of about 25 houses.
