to the help of flood victims of West Bengal-2003

The worst affected area are Kaliachak Block II, Manikchak and Bhutni. About 1100 families lost everything in the erosion of river Ganga. Five Masjids have gone under the river Ganga also. The villages which have been completely abolished are as follows:

Muslim families are trying to make temporary shelter in a groups and scattered way. They are offering prayer in a make-shift mosques in few places. Most of the families do not know how they will survive and where they will go.Already 60 persons died in gastro-entrities and diarrhea.

The landless, shelterless families somehow managed to acquire space near the highway and living with the help of different NGOs.

Taawun Trust: More than 500 Food Packets containing Chana and Flattened Rice (Chura) have been distributed among the needy families. Medical camps are set up at Panchanandapur and Manikchak and Bhutnichar area. More than 500 patients have already received treatment from these camps. The team of Ta’awun Trust visited the all affected areas. An amount of Rs. 60,000/- (Sixty Thousands) was spent on this project.
