RELIEF WORK FOR KASHMIR QUAKE

Families are wiped out, town reduced to rubble; survivors suffer, as relief supplies are short on both side of LoC. In the valley, people are waiting for rehabilitation their homes.
On the morning of October 8, the subcontinent's sylvan paradise, Kashmir, was shaken to the core. The minutes-long earthquake, which measured 7.6 on the Richter scale, reduced the region to ruins. On the Indian side of the LoC, more than 1400 died, thousands were injured and many more rendered homeless.
Ta'awun Trust is a New Delhi based charitable trust established in 1998 to help victims of natural calamities and communal riots. It has rehabilitated Gujarat riots victims in year 2002, Gujarat earthquake victims in 2001, survivors of Orissa supper cyclone in 1999, the flood-affected people of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar and Gujarat from 1998 to 2005 and the Tsunami this year. Ta'awun Trust works for emergency relief and long-term rehabilitation of the worst affected families in a calamity.
A team of Ta'awun Trust under supervision of Mr. Mauji Khan (Retd.) ACP of Delhi have reached Kashmir and distribution cash amount of Rs. 2000/-, blanket and first aid medicine to each family in village Joola, Dajkoot, Gwalta and Isam of Uri, Chunai Meena, Mool Gunda, Sadhna of Tangdhar and Teeth-Wall areas. Ta'awun Trust plans to work in the affected areas provide more relief to survivors and formulate projects to help rebuilt their homes.
