Relief and Rehabilitation Work Report of Ta'awun Trust for Gujarat Earthquake Victims (year 2001-2002)

On January 26, 2001 the country was overtaken by the Gujarat earthquake, which broke all records of devastation. Death and devastation in this killer earthquake surpassed the numbers killed in a powerful earthquake in Turkey in 1999, when more than 17000 people were killed.

The medical team of Ta'awun Trust reached Bhuj on January 30, 2001 and got involved in the first aid, relief and treatment of victims.

After the survey, the Trust adopted three villages, two (Bhatkedra and Kavi) in district Bharuch and one (Bajana) in district Surender Nagar, Gujarat. The Trust got repaired 100 houses and 46 newly constructed in the state of Gujratat.

The total expenditure on the above relief and rehabilitation work amounted to Rs. 2,578,678-00 (Twenty five Lakh seventy eight thousand six hundred seventy eight only)
